Hughes was given name this has just been found 3-1-99 by Pete Note this information from Pete Goodhue.Pete received this info from a Johann Godu of Poitier France, also he has found 8 Brother and sisters. Ref:Dict.Jette,p.513;Dict.Tanguay,Vol4,p315,Vol1,p.275;Drouin,vol.17,p208;PRDH,vol.5,p.27;Mariage de Varennes,p188 His is also listed as Pierre Married to M.Anne Choquet 138-139 ref:jette,p1070;PRDH,vol.4vol.27vol28 Pete Goodhue received and obtained a transcription of an act written by a Notary in Poitier , in which PIERRE GODU (father) is signing over his son YVES into apprenticeship for the next 4 years, during which he will live with and work for a Lace maker by the name of FRANCOIS DRAPERON . The above contract was signed in 1674, meaning that our ancestor YVES, was only 10 yrs. old !!!!!!! Now, I don't think he liked the idea of being a "lace maker" because I next found him in the records of the 'HOTEL DIEU" HOSPITAL in Quebec City in the month of NOV. 1690, where he spent 23 days recovering from a wound acquired in the "SIEGE OF QUEBEC" an attack on QUEBEC by the American Admiral PHIPPS. (who was incidentally defeated in the battle) (*source of information- Micro-films of the Hospitals records kept by the Nuns*) YVES was in the French army in what we called then 'LA COMPAGNIE DE LA MARINE DE LA L'ANGLOISERIE" an early form of "MARINES" div. of the French Army...... Pete Goodhue has a copy of the church register from Poitier France on date of birth. | ||||||||||||||||
